We are Cine Fértil

Cine Fértil was established in 2003 with the aim of creating a space where Latin American people can access to the cultural, social and political reality of the Arab world through film.

With our film exhibitions we expect to generate tools for intercultural dialogue, mutual knowledge of our societies and for the development of common audiovisual production strategies between Arab and Latin American countries. Cine Fértil started screening documentary’s about the Arab world at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), main academic institution of Argentina. Through the years, Cine Fértil has collaborated with screenings in events such as the Arab Countries Culture Week, the Alliance Française program “Middle East Cinema”, the 4º Edition of the Buenos Aires Under Film Festival, the Childhood and Youth program of the 10º edition of DerHumALC (Human Rights Film Festival), the 1º edition of CineMigrante Film Festival.

Cine Fértil has also organized its own programs and exhibitions at UBA, Popular University of Mothers of Plaza de Mayo and at several citys around the country such as Córdoba and Catamarca, with the support of its Culture Secretaries.

2010 was the year of Cine Fértil’s institutional consolidation, organizing in August the First International Arab Film Exhibition Amal in Argentina, with the collaboration of the Euroarab Film Festival Amal from Santiago the Compostela, Spain. In October 2010, Cine Fértil co-organized in Buenos Aires the program Cartografías Urbanas, curated by Casa Arabe from Spain.

The audiences recognition obtained by Cine Fértil through this years has lead it to become a founding member of the Film Festivals and Exhibitions Network of Argentina, encouraged by INCAA (National Film Institute of Argentina) on the context of the 20th edition of the Mar del Plata Film Festival.
